Find out more about the Team working for the Project in Uganda and in the UK
|
Dave is from the UK and originally went to Uganda in 2005 as a volunteer to help re-introduce the rhino, where David Bakeine worked. They were instantly friends and Dave started helping the local community in a small way at Christmas time for three years before embarking on helping David Bakeine achieve his wider vision for the community. Dave is a Chartered Geologist and as he has a paid career, his time is provided on a voluntary basis. With three young kids, this is mostly at night! He has travelled extensively but was particularly impacted by the poverty he saw in rural Uganda and equally drawn to the Ugandan welcoming smile. He has formed a successful partnership with David Bakeine in transforming people's lives from both children to adults - as Dave puts it, "it's about giving this community a leg up or a kick start" and ultimately he is inspired to help them obtain self-sufficiency. |

David was born in the community the project is based in and acts as our Project Manager. David is university educated, has a successful track record in project managing development projects and also has links to the tourism industry. Before the project's inception, when the co-founders were friends, the community were helped at Christmas time only - David showed his project management skills and integrity by providing detailed accounts and photographic evidence of our small contributions. This transparent work ethic has continued to the current scale. David is an 'ideas guy' and knows how to successfully get things done in Uganda.
